X, Y, Z- The end of the ABCs!

Dear Parents,

We have reached the end of the alphabet! The children were so good by this point that they kept jumping ahead of me before I had to teach the letter. We had such a great time learning the alphabet. The children really enjoy practicing the alphabet, each sound that the letters make and different words that begin with these letters. Here are our final letters.

W

W is for whales...

...and witches!

X

X is for x-ray

Y

Y is for yak and yarn

In this case, the yarn is on the yak.

Z

Z is for zebra...

...and zombies!

As always, I recommend the Storybots ABC video that I posted earlier, as well as the videos for each letter.

Here are three new videos that we really enjoy. It's great to have many different songs because each song has a different speed and intonation, so they all help with memorization, fluency and pronunciation.

The Spring Play

Thank you for coming to the play! We had a great time getting ready for the show and performing it. I hope you enjoyed it.

If you have time, I would greatly appreciate some pictures. You can send them to me at kgulinoperez@gmail.com . Thank you!

May 23- T, U, V

Dear Parents,

The last two weeks have been a lot of fun. We have started learning about water and the different ways we use it and can find it.

We are getting close to the end of our alphabet and it is very exciting to see how well the kids know and how easy it is for them to think of different words they know that begin with each letter.

T is for turtles!

U

U is for umbrellas!

V

V is for volcanoes...

...and vampires!

We especially had fun learning about volcanoes for the letter V. We had a little science experiment, where we combined baking soda and vinegar to make our volcano erupt.

I introduced the children to The Count from Sesame Street to help them learn about vampires. The series of the Count is about a vampire that likes to count things.

Here are the two we have watched so far. I recommend watching them and other Count videos.

Dear Parents,

We have had a very full week preparing for the school play! We really hope you will enjoy it and are very excited.

We learned about the letters R and S this week.

We had a lot of fun playing with the rockets we made and the children immediately noticed that there are so many words in English that begin with the letter S.

R

R is for rockets

S

S is for sun...

...and snakes!
