H, I, J

Dear Parents,

We have been continuing to learn the alphabet and making crafts that go along with each letter. Along with our two other ABC songs that I posted before, we have also been listening to The Alphabet Chant by Super Simple Songs. You can click on the link to open it in a new window or watch it directly here. This different speeds of the song is very helpful for learning. We can also sing the song a cappella!

Recently we have been covering a few different topics.

We read "Rainbow Fish", by Marcus Pfister.

This story teaches about sharing and making new friends. We had a blast reading it and making our own rainbow fish.

We have been doing a "Young Inventors" PYP unit and have been enjoying learning about inventions and the science behind them.

Here are some photos from when we learned about Einstein and static electricity.

                 We also learned about robots.

Fieldtrips!

We were lucky enough to not only go on one but three field trips in the last two weeks. First, we went to the Aquarium, Turquazoo.

The Blue Class loves fish and sea animals. We always have a great time singing Slippery Fish, and acting out being the different animals, so it was very exciting seeing these animals in person.

We saw all different kinds of fish, stingrays, turtles and even sharks!

The two days after the field trip we reviewed the animals we saw by painting...

...and making sharks!

SO SCARY!

On our next field trip, we went to a bread factory. We got to see and learn all about the different steps of making bread: the mixing of the ingredients, the rising, kneading, shaping, slicing, rising, baking, cooling and packaging! We love bread so it was very fun to see how it is made right in front of us.

We had fun with our protective hairnets and slippers.

Watching and listening to how ingredients get mixed...

...and cut!

Yesterday we went to the Electric Plant Museum, which was an electric plant that was turned into a museum.
Our great tour guide showed us around and taught us about the history of electricity and how it is produced.

We had a great time playing with all sorts of electric games.

 An old switchboard station
 A thermal image projector

A magnetic sculpture

Last but not least, plasma globes!

We had a great time recreating these at school.
